Cayla Lamar

Cayla Lamar is a Gen-Z fashion and portrait photographer based in Atlanta, Georgia. She studied fashion photography, lighting, and photographic fundamentals at the International Center of Photography in New York City. Her work explores themes of balance, gender, and abstraction, using color as a central storytelling tool.Through her work, Lamar aims to create images that invite viewers to see themselves and others from new perspectives. Lamar’s practice is rooted in creating visually striking images that challenge perception and evoke emotion.

To me, unity is embracing community. It's a refusal to engage in systems that tell us to be individualistic. It's being a villager for those in your village. Unity is the foundation of my work because my intention when creating is to always give people a chance to see themselves and those they love reflected back to them. While individuality is an important value in my work, I always intend to highlight the emotions that connect us as people. Overall unity is doing my part as an active member in my community, not only to reap benefits but because I know that in order to have a healthy ecosystem we must all play a part.
