Thalia Butts

Thalia Monet' is an Atlanta-based writer, designer, violinist, and travel photographer, focused on themes of vulnerability, self-expression, and community. Working exclusively with second-hand point and shoot film cameras, Monet' celebrates the power of a dilettante approach to curating her photography practice. Her film photography is a part of a larger expression practice, The Disco (w-2d.com), where she uses writing, music, photography, filmmaking, and journalism to document the things she's learning, feeling, doing, and being introduced to. Constantly inspired by her passion for travel, much of her photography work is captured while away from her Reynoldstown home on trips across North America, Europe, and Asia. With all of her creative mediums, Thalia Monet' seeks to document, preserve, and connect more deeply with herself, her community, and with the world around her.

Unity means aligning things that may otherwise be scattered and tossed about into a single thread. Not inherently dissolving what is being unified, but strengthening that which is being unified, reinforcing it into something stronger, more resilient, more secure than it could have ever been before. Unity means aligning into a direction, coming together in purpose, and becoming something new and more powerful than what was otherwise possible. Unity presents opportunity for realities that previously felt risky to be possible, to feel tangible, to come into reach of all, not just one or some.
